May 9th, 2001, The Goodyear Police Explorer Post will holds it's annual Open House for anyone interested in learning about and becoming involved in Law Enforcement Exploring. All those interested are urged to attend and learn about the Post and it's activities, along with meeting the advisors and active members. The Open House will be held at the Goodyear Community Center at Loma Linda Park. Click on the picture of the park and building below to see a map of the area surrounding the park. What is Exploring?
Exploring is the young adult division of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women of high school age. The program is developed by local community organizations such as businesses, industries, professions, churches, and civic groups to mach the interest of young adults with the program of the organization.
The intent of Law Enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in Police/Law Enforcement operations and to interest them in Law Enforcement Functions whether they enter law enforcement or not. Through involvement, the law enforcement Explorer program establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service.
Exploring can further each Explorer's education, encourage the Explorer's participation in a rewarding and productive service activity, and enhance the Explorer's preparation for future roles as a citizen or community member.
Law enforcement Explorer posts participate in a variety of programs and projects featuring training, skills, development, and service. Post members benefit most from a well-rounded program based on Exploring's six experience areas and the specific outcomes desired for Explorers are as follows:
CAREER-Achieve a better understanding of America's social, economic, and governmental systems. Gain insight and practical experience in careers.
SOCIAL- Build stable personal values firmly based on religious concepts. Learn to deal with all people and gain a sense of family responsibility.
SERVICE-Acquire the skills and the desire to help others. Gain a keen respect for the basic rights of others.
LEADERSHIP-Gain a sense of pride in our American heritage. Prepare to give leadership and fulfill responsibilities to American society and the forums of the world.
FITNESS-Improve mental and emotional fitness. Gain physical fitness and an appreciation of sports.
OUTDOOR-Acquire a degree of self-reliance based on courage, initiative and resourcefulness. Gain an understanding and appreciation of the wise use of resources and the protection of our environment.
